Welfare rights caseworker

The welfare rights caseworker at Citizens Advice North Hertfordshire supports vulnerable clients through the complex benefits system.  Clients are interviewed in a confidential setting within the bureau (or their own homes if they aren’t physically able to get to the bureau) and are advised on the law and their rights and may also be represented in agencies and tribunals.

If necessary the caseworker does follow up work, such as contacting the relevant benefit agencies to negotiate on clients’ behalf or representing clients at benefit appeal hearings, contesting decisions to refuse or stop client’s benefits.

Our caseworker can’t always achieve what the client wants, but the success rate is exceptionally high and we often achieve positive financial outcomes for vulnerable clients who would otherwise be left without support.
