Meet the team

Our team is made up of an amazing group of staff and volunteers. Everyone undergoes extensive training appropriate for their role! You don’t have to train to give advice in order to volunteer with us. We have many different roles available – we have volunteers who help with administration, office maintenance, fundraising or by sharing our posts on social media. All our trustees are volunteers too. We welcome people from all walks of life – no matter what your age or background we can usually find a role to suit you so please get in touch.

Richard

Richard Thackerary

Chair

Since March 2020 I have been a trustee for CANH, holding the office of Treasurer and now Chair. I came to CANH after a long and successful career in the financial services sector, spanning nearly four decades, where I worked for several of the world’s leading global banks in various senior roles.

I have lived in North Herts since 1985, having moved from Canvey Island where I grew up. I am fortunate to be married, have two daughters and four grandchildren.

My motivation for getting involved in CANH stems from my own life experiences and the realisation that luck, and sometimes a helping hand, are significant in the shaping that experience. Citizens Advice is an organisation that is there to provide a helping hand to its clients and hopefully play a part in enhancing their life experiences.
